[it's voice because Marianne CANNOT text over her compass right now. She's too tired and feeling drained, the clatter of desperate voices around her are all feeding into the tension she feels right in her shoulders... She should get back to helping, but she feels... well, like whatever she's doing isn't enough, and that she shouldn't try in the first place.
Which isn't helpful or conducive at all to this room of injured strangers -- though all from towns from the Moon territory -- so after a moment, Marianne pulls up her compass and thinks of the one person who comes to mind.]
Um, Mercedes? It's me, Marianne... I can try again later if you're busy right now.
[ Mercedes responds almost instantly. From the low murmur of the voices around her, she's doing the same duty as her farflung friend. Healers are always needed in violent situations, after all, but upon hearing the voice of someone familiar that she hasn't had the opportunity to check on...
Of course she has to answer. ]
It's all right, I just finished. Are you all right? Is something wrong? You sound a little strained...
[The relief Marianne feels when Mercedes answers? A little ridiculous considering the fact that Mercedes is not the kind of person who wouldn't answer, but let Marianne have this... Everything is stressful!! She takes in a breath, inhale, exhale....
okay, and another one just in case, inhale... exhale...]
I'm fine! I'm not injured, fortunately. [like in a bodily sense she's fine!!!] I'm inside and helping the people here who did get injured. And...
I thought we were about finished, but there's been so many more people coming in that it's all just... [it's a MESS!!! there are sounds in the background, shouts for help and shouts from help, and Marianne tries clasping her compass closer so that her voice can be heard more clearly]
Mercedes, I'm so sorry to have to ask, but... I need your help.
[ Mercedes once again speaks quickly, not at all fond of the fact that Marianne sounds so stressed and guilty just for admitting that she needs help. There are so many injured people from these attacks... it's too much for one person to shoulder, and even if she did have assistance, more couldn't hurt.
Things have largely settled here; she can move on. ]
Just tell me exactly where you are and I'll be there as soon as I can.
[There’s guilt here of course, there’s always guilt when Marianne makes any decision, but it’s tempered by the fact that Mercedes agrees so readily and the situation itself. Marianne’s fought too long to prioritize her irrationalities during a battle.]
We’re here -- [Marianne proceeding to explain the small outlying village that is some distance away from the Temple, and right near the border between the Moon and Stars territory], but we’re still in Moon territory. Mercedes…
[Marianne can’t say don’t come when she’s already asked, so she tries a different tack.]
Please be careful. I’ll wait outside for you.
[She doesn’t think any of the villagers here would attack Mercedes – they’re all preoccupied with evacuating or recuperating in their shelters – but she is concerned that monsters will appear... Cue Marianne praying to the goddess yet again, even if they are in another world. Just... please keep Mercedes safe...!]
[ It doesn't take long between speaking to Marianne and gathering what she needs, thankfully. Mercedes had had just enough time in between healing stints to spend it ensconced in the kitchens, and she adds one more wrapped parcel to her supply pack and heads out.
It's certainly more walking than she's done in awhile, and her feet have been protesting, but it's a very small issue in the sea of problems that these monsters have caused. Thankfully, she's already close enough to the border, and it won't be long before she enters the village, peering around to find the promised-- ]
Marianne!
[ Aaaaand there she is, beaming. Praise the goddess. ]

Marianne raises her head at the sound of her name and then immediately makes a bee-line towards Mercedes,]
Mercedes...! Thank the goddess... [She holds out her hands to... well, she would take Mercedes hands' but that's almost too forward for her... she can at least try and carry one of Mercedes' many parcels!!!] Are you all right? Um, no one bothered you, did they?
[because if they did... Marianne will have WORDS for these moonies, or maybe just strong words -- maybe even a fist shake or too.]
[ But poor Marianne looks both worried and relieved, so Mercedes shifts her parcels and--
... Does not offer any of them, instead grasping one of Marianne's heads instead. There, she's here now. ]
But I'm glad you decided to wait for me out here! I wouldn't have known exactly where your healing area was set up, and I'm not the best with trying to find places on my own...
[mercedes!! PLEASE!!! Marianne startles, flusters, and then immediately goes soft... Exactly in that order. She doesn't even dream of trying to take her own hand back -- this is what she wanted!!
this is what she wanted but she still blushes anyway, so mercedes is the victor]
O-oh, um, I'm glad I caught you in time...!
[The idea that Mercedes would have wandered around the village totally lost??? Does not surprise Marianne as much when she thinks back to when they wandered aimlessly in the Gods Wood.... Mercedes has a bad sense of direction, huh....]
There's another healer inside, sir Roy -- and he said I should take a short break, so I decided to wait for you here. [she squeezes Mercedes' hand instinctively... she's anxious...] But with just the two of us, we haven't been able to help everyone who needs it.
[especially in a timely manner... Marianne is a healer yes, but she's diverged a little to make room for skills like close combat, and Roy is your standard elderly village healer. they have not been doing Well]
I understand... no matter how desperately we want to help everyone, there's a limit even to healing ability. Not to mention anyone would have difficulties if there were just too many patients.
[ Mercedes gently squeezes her hand in return, offering her strongest smile. ]
I brought some sweets with me-- I thought they might help with your energy, ans at least then I'll know you'll have eaten something. I'm at your service otherwise!
